High School Recap: Plainview Beats Great Neck South in Conference I

The Plainview JFK Hawks outdueled Great Neck South in a Conference I matchup on Wednesday afternoon, beating the Rebels 5-2 in a matchup of two of the top teams in Nassau County. The Hawks were led by sophomore Yuval Solomon, who defeated Eric Rofe 6-1, 6-0 at first singles.

The best match of the day came at second doubles as Josh Graham & David Weissman of Plainview edged Great Neck South’s Andrew Schneider & Kyle Berlinski 7-5, 2-6, 7-6(7-1).

Massapequa moved to 2-0 on the season, beating Lynbrook 5-2 in a Conference II showdown. The Chiefs were able to notch key wins in the doubles matches to push past the Owls of Lynbrook.

In Conference III-B, Plainedge took care of New Hyde Park 6-1. The Red Devils were anchored by Tyler Soloman, who beat Garrison Shu at second singles, while Tom Connelly and Steve Terrizzi beat Billy Zois and Gautman Nayyar at fourth doubles.

Valley Stream South beat Uniondale 6-1 in a Conference IV-A matchup behind senior Hamza Sadhra’s win at second singles.
