High School Recap: Port Washington Outlasts Manhasset in County Championship Rematch

Manhasset traveled to Port Washington on Monday afternoon in a rematch of last year’s Nassau County championship, setting up an exciting match in Conference I early on in the season.
The two squads didn’t disappoint, and played a tightly-contested match that came down to the fourth doubles contest. Port Washington’s Blake Dolin and Maddie Rosenbaum edged K. Te and C. Catulavo 7-5, 0-6, 7-6, 7-4 in the deciding match, giving the Vikings the 4-3 victory. It now improves to 4-0 on the season while Manhasset drops to 3-1.
Roslyn also remained undefeated in Conference I, as the Bulldogs knocked off Locust Valley 5-2. Katherine Changtroreleke beat Anastasia Koniaev 7-6, 6-4 at second singles to help Roslyn move to 4-0. Locust Valley is now 0-4 on the season.
In Conference II-A, Great Neck South continued its excellent start to the season as it improved to 4-0. The Rebels won all four of the doubles matches on its way to a 5-2 victory over fellow Conference II-A member Oyster Bay. Great Neck North edged Herricks 4-3 behind the fourth doubles tandem of Rachel Moinian and Neeka Gilardia. The pair from North snuck out a 7-5, 7-5 victory to move the Blazers to 2-2. Herricks falls to 1-2.
Plainedge notched its first win of the year on Monday, defeating Carle Place 6-1 in Conference III-A action.
