High School Round Up: Great Neck South Upends North in Cross Town Matchup

This past Friday, Great Neck South took out Great Neck North 7-0 in a cross-town rival game. While the final score finished at 7-0, the matchup of the out of conference opponents was much more competitive then the score would indicate. South was led by Haarika Reddy and Emily Bae who cruised to a 6-1, 6-4 victory at first doubles.
Great Neck South now moves to 3-0 while Great Neck North drops to 1-2. North will host Herricks in its next match Monday, while South takes its undefeated record on the road to Oyster Bay.
In Conference I, Roslyn improved to 3-0 with a 6-1 home victory over Jericho. The match of the afternoon came at third doubles, when Roslyn’s Tess Dicker and Alexa Buchbiner outlasted Laura Gold and Erica Forrest 6-3, 0-6, 7-5 to help pace the Bulldogs.
Up next for Roslyn is a matchup with Locust Valley on the road, while Jericho will travel to Oceanside to take on the Sailors.
Also in Conference I, Port Washington knocked off Cold Spring Harbor 6-1 in a Conference I showdown. The Pirates were led by Sarah Seeman, who rolled 6-0, 6-0 in her match at first singles. At second singles, Francesca Karman cruised 6-3, 6-2 while the doubles pair Sydney Levy and Maddie Lane knocked off Jillian Futter and Katherine Faria 7-6(8-6), 6-2.
The road victory moves Port Washington to 3-0 on the young season as it prepares for a matchup with Manhasset on Monday in a rematch of last year’s county championship. Cold Spring Harbor hosts Syosset on Monday.
