The Hall of Fame Tennis Championships are being played in Newport, R.I. this week, and a number of top Americans headline the field.

John Isner, the top-seed in Newport, was shocked by 161st-ranked Rajeev Ram, who ousted the top-ranked American with a 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-6(8) victory. Isner captured Hall of Fame Tennis Championships title back in 2011 and 2012.

Sixth-seed Sam Querrey won his first-round match on Tuesday, beating Australia’s Matthew Ebden 7-6(3), 7-6(1).

Querrey fell down a break early in the opening set, but battled his way back to win it in a tiebreaker. Both players would get a break in the second set, and once again it was Querrey who came out on top in the tiebreak.

Overall, Querrey fired 10 aces and broke twice in eight opportunities to get past Ebden.

He will play German Dustin Brown in the second-round, who defeated Swiss qualifier Adrien Bossel 7-6(4), 6-3 on Tuesday.

Fourth-seeded American Jack Sock cruised in his opener, rolling past Czech Radek Stepanek 6-2, 6-0.

Sock will play Slovak Lukas Lacko, who downed Niels Desein 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
