It’s Deja-Vu for Wozniacki in Another Upset by Goerges

German Julia Goerges has upset top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in the third round of the Madrid Open for the second time in just 11 days. The 27th-ranked Goerges defeated Caroline Wozniacki, 7-6 (3), 6-3, in the finals of the recent Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany.

Goerges, who rallied from 3-0 down to take the first set after breaking Wozniacki twice, will face Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the next round of the Madrid Open, after Pavlyuchenkova’s upset over the number five seed, Australian Samantha Stosur, 7-6, 6-3.
