Ana Ivanovic announced on her website that she will be working with a new coach for a trial period. The former world number one has hired Dejan Petrovic, who has formerly worked with top-ranked Serbian’s Novak Djokovic and Jelena Jankovic.
Ivanovic made the following announcement on her website:
Ana is currently working with coach Dejan Petrovic on a trial basis. He will accompany Ana to the North American tournaments this summer. Petrovic, a former player and Davis Cup captain, has in the past worked with current and former Serbian No.1s Novak Djokovic and Jelena Jankovic. Ana's next tournament is the Bank of the West Classic, which begins in Stanford on Monday 28 July.
Petrovic worked with Djokovic for a year back in 2004 and then with Jankovic the following year. He helped both of them reach the number one ranking the world, and reached a career-high ranking of 157 as a player.
The hiring comes almost two weeks after Ivanovic split with former coach Nemanja Kontic after this year’s Wimbledon. Kontic began working with Ivanovic after the 2013 Wimbledon, and had his one-year contract conclude after the 2014 Wimbledon.
Ivanovic will next play in the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, California beginning next week.
