The Ladies’ Singles Final at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships is all set.

Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur will take on Czech Republic’s Marketa Vondrousova in the championship match on Saturday after each won their respective semifinals on Thursday.

Vondrousova was the first to advance as she played a near flawless match to end the inspiring run of Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina with a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Vondrousova, who missed much of 2022 thanks to wrist injuries, is now into the second major final of her career.

“I didn’t play for six months last year. I’m so grateful to be here playing like this again. I cannot believe it,” she said. “Elina is such a fighter and a great person. I was crazy nervous the whole match. I just had to stay focused and fight for every game.”

Both players came out firing throughout the match on Thursday and went for it, but it was 24 unforced errors from Svitolina that would inevitably do her in. While Vondrousova committed 25 unforced errors of her own, she hit 22 winners to her opponent’s nine.

She now will take on Jabeur, who fought back to beat second-seed Aryna Sabalenka 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-3. Jabeur rallied from a set and a break down to knock off Sabalenka and reach the third major final of her career.

“Thank you to the crowd who kept me in the match. It was very difficult accepting her serves and her shots. Thank you guys for cheering me and believing in me,” said Jabeur. “I’m proud of myself. Old me would have lost the match and would be home now. But I dug deep and found the strength.”

Jabeur and Vondrousova will meet for the seventh time in their careers, with the pair each winning three of the previous six matchups.
