Local junior tennis players came out to the John McEnroe Tennis Academy’s Long Island annex at Sportime Syosset to participate in the Academy’s Scholarship Tryouts.
The goal of the Tryout is to award full or partial scholarships to SPORTIME and JMTA programs at SPORTIME Syosset, starting in the fall of 2021. The tryouts puts them through different drills on the tennis court as well as in the weight room with a fitness assessment.
“It is always exciting to hold our scholarship tryouts. This year we had our largest turnout and I couldn’t have asked for a better day!” said Mike Kossoff, the JMTA Long Island Director. “Tennis is an expensive sport, so to be able to have a chance and help families in need is extremely satisfying. Our academy has continued to grow year after year and our results speak for themselves. I am so proud of where we are at and the team we have been able to assemble.”
Scholarship winners will be notified by July 31, 2021.
