Is your child the next Serena Williams or Novak Djokovic? Find out at the 2011 Bellmore Family Street Festival this Saturday, Sept. 17 where the USTA-Eastern/Long Island Region will be offering lessons for kids and special giveaways for both children and adults.

The USTA/Eastern-Long Island Region will have two courts set up in the Sports Expo area on Pettit Avenue near Bedford Avenue between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday during the Fair. Kids are invited to learn tennis the “QuickStart” way, which is the USTA’s program specially designed for children under the age of 10. The racquets are smaller, the balls are lighter and tennis courts are shorter. Tennis pros from across Nassau and Suffolk Counties will be volunteering their time and equipment to make the day a success.

“We will be setting up two ’10-and-under’ courts for lessons,” says Daniel Burgess, president, USTA/Eastern-Long Island Region. “We will also have 10-and-under and regular membership forms available for anyone who would like to become a new USTA member. In addition, we invite current members to stop by with their USTA membership card, say hello and receive a gift.”
