France’s Gael Monfils has pulled out of the 2012 French Open due to a right knee injury, an injury he sustained when he lost to American Brian Baker in the second-round of the Open de Nice this past Wednesday.

Doctors say it will take Monfils, currently ranked 13th in the world, approximately three weeks to make a full recovery. He was a 2008 semifinalist at his home county’s Grand Slam event, and will now be replaced by a "lucky loser" who was eliminated during the qualifying tournament.
