Belgium’s Kim Clijsters will skip the French Open and clay-court season to focus on adapting to grass ahead of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and Wimbledon. Last month, a tear in a hip muscle forced the 28-year-old Clijsters to pull out of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

“My current physical condition does not allow me to get into top shape for Roland Garros,” said Clijsters.

In what she has determined is her final season, the former world number one-ranked Clijsters turns her attention to this summer’s Olympic Games and representing her nation in London. In addition, she aims to play at Wimbledon in late June.
