Oyster Bay, N.Y. native Julia Elbaba made Long Island proud yesterday at the 2010 U.S. Open Juniors. Elbaba, along with her partner Krista Hardeback, defeated Danka Kovinik & Sasha Gavrilovska in the first round of the Girls Junior U.S. Open Doubles Tournament.

Playing on Court 6, Elbaba & Hardebeck won the first set 6-1, before dropping the second 4-6. This set up an exciting super tie-breaker to determine the winner. Elbaba & Hardeback were victorious 10-8 in the super-breaker to advance.

On Wednesday, they will play the third match on Court 7, a second round match against An-Sophie Mestach from Belgium and her Croatian doubles partner, Silvia Njiric. If you out at the Open this afternoon, come and support Julia and Krista.
