Long Island native Scott Lipsky and his doubles partner, Rajeev Ram, came just short of shocking the second-seeded team of Mark and Bob Bryan in the men’s doubles quarterfinals at Wimbledon this morning, but fell 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 4-6, 4-6.

Lipsky & Ram put the heat on the Bryans early in the match and took the first set 7-5. The Bryans fought back breaking in the second game of the second set and cruising to a 6-3 second set win. Lipsky & Ram then went on to win the third set 7-5 and were one set from the upset and a semifinal berth. The Bryans rallied though and took the fourth set 6-4. The fifth set was 4-4 when Lipsky picked the wrong time to commit two double faults. This allowed the Bryans break and serve out the match.

For Lipsky, this was his third Grand Slam quarterfinals appearance in the past six Grand Slams. For the Bryans, they will advance on to the men’s doubles semis and a matchup with the unseeded team of Jonathan Marray of Great Britain & Frederik Nielsen of Denmark.
