Mike Bryan, Jack Sock Capture U.S. Open Doubles Title

Two months ago, Americans Mike Bryan and Jack Sock captured the Wimbledon Men’s Doubles title together, and now have added a U.S. Open title to their collection after defeating the seventh-seeded duo of Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo 6-3, 6-1 in the final on Friday inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.
“This has been a magical run,” said Bryan. “I am going to soak this one in and enjoy it. It was a lot of fun today.”
Playing together because of the hip injury to Mike’s brother, Bob, which has sidelined him for a year, the pair have been nothing short of spectacular.
“When I got the call from Mike right before Wimbledon to play, it was a very quick yes to play with one half of the greatest team of all-time,” said Sock.
The duo is the first to win both Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in the same year since Jonas Bjorkman and Todd Woodbridge in 2003, and the first team to win consecutive Grand Slams since the Bryan Brothers won all four from the 2012 U.S. Open through the 2013 Wimbledon Championships.
