Andy Murray from Britain defeated Spain’s David Ferrer, 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1, 7-6 (2), Friday in the semifinals of the 2011 Australian Open where he advances to face Serbian Novak Djokovic in the finals on Sunday. Djokovic holds a 4-3 career edge over Murray, but Murray has taken the last three consecutive matches from Djokovic. Murray overwhelmed Ferrer in the two tie-break sets, allowing the Spanish player just four points.

Murray is looking to end a 75-year drought of Grand Slam singles victories by a Brit, with the last coming way back in 1936 with a win by Fred Perry when Perry won both the U.S. Open and Wimbledon.
