Nassau High School Recap: Syosset and Massapequa Remain Unbeaten

Great Neck South moved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-1 victory over South Side in Conference 1A on Tuesday. The Rebels were led by the doubles tandem of Jack Briamonte and David West, who notched a 6-2, 2-6, 7-6(7-2) victory in the contest.

In Conference I-B, Great Neck North picked up a 5-2 victory over Garden City. Simon Kashfi defeated Alex Hazarian 6-2, 6-4 at second singles to pace Great Neck North, while Jordan Greiff & Avery Nabavian notched a 6-4, 6-4 win over Hazaroan & Will Donohue at second doubles.

The Syosset Braves remained undefeated on the season, as it opened up its Conference I-B league play. Syosset bested Jericho 7-0 behind its strong singles play: Daniel Shleimovich won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles while Dylan Granat cruised 6-0, 6-0 in his second singles contest.

Also in Conference I-B on Tuesday, Roslyn defeated Friends Academy 6-1. The turning point in the match came at third singles when Roslyn’s Simon Adler edged Will Doran 7-6(7-2), 6-0. Eric Irom & Jeremy Kaplan helped pace Roslyn with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Sam Kahane & Patrick Margey at second doubles.

Massapequa won its third consecutive contest to open up the season, beating Oceanside 4-3 in a Conference II showdown. Nasser Ghaffar picked up a huge win over Jake Cohen at first singles, winning 7-6(4), 5-7, 6-3. Matthew Waterhouse & Alexandre Meirhaeghe helped the Chiefs with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win at third doubles.
