Plainedge, Carle Place Notch Conference III Victories

The Plainedge Red Devils and Carle Place Frogs both continued their winning ways on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, each picking up victories in Nassau’s Conference III.
The Red Devils took on the Sewanhaka Indians in Conference III-B and won its third consecutive match by the same score, 5-2. Plainedge was led by its doubles tandems, all four of which nailed down victories to anchor the win.
The deciding match came at fourth doubles as Plainedge’s Nick Ticali & Tom Connelly defeated Dan Davide & Safir Memon 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
Ryan Easterbrook beat Kyle Ng 6-1, 6-0 at first singles as well for Plainedge. The win moves the Red Devils to 8-5 on the year.
Also in Conference III-B, West Hempstead edged Wantagh 4-3. The first doubles duo of Kannan Rajendran & Brian Saulon of West Hempstead beat Wantagh’s Anthony Amato & Tristan Cruz 6-1, 6-1 to snap a five-match losing streak.
Carle Place also rattled off its third straight win on Wednesday. The Frogs swept all seven matches en route to a 7-0 victory over Hicksville in Conference III-A.
While the score line would indicate a one-sided affair, Carle Place had to dig out a couple of three-set victories to push through. Senior Sahil Kadakia picked up a big win at second singles, beating Hicksville’s Akash Jha 6-3, 2-6, 6-0.
Giancarlo Cavallero continued his dominance at first singles, taking his match in straight sets. Cavallero has now won his last six matches without dropping a set, and has won his last four matches without dropping a game.
The win pushes Carle Place to 6-5 on the season.
In Conference I-B, Syosset remained undefeated on the season, beating the Garden City Trojans 7-0 behind its second doubles tandem of Evan Lowitt & Preet Rajpal, who beat Rob Gavigan & Drew Haggerty 6-4, 6-3.
Now at 13-0 overall, Syosset looks to complete the perfect regular season when it takes on a streaking Great Neck North team on Friday.
Led by seniors Nasser Ghaffar & Tom Dacosta in singles, and Vincent Coghill & Zachary Ready in doubles, the Massapequa Chiefs beat North Shore 5-2 to improve to 12-1 on the season.
