Just like his quarterfinal match on Thursday, American Sam Querrey had to come back from a set down in his semifinal match on Friday, beating Ukraine’s Alexandr Dolgopolov 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.

At 5-5 in the final set, Querrey nailed down the only break point of the frame to jump ahead 6-5. And after a couple of aces, the American held to close out Dolgopolov and reach the final.

Overall, Querrey hit 22 aces and allowed just four break point chances in the final two sets.

He will meet Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin in the final. Istomin advanced after defending champion Marcos Baghdatis retired with a left calf injury.

“I felt my calf pop,” said Baghdatis, who says he hopes to be ready for Wimbledon. “I was feeling good, I was happy, everything was going my way and I was a break up early in the match. It’s just the way it is.”
