Canada’s Milos Raonic has recorded his first top four victory after he defeated Great Britain’s Andy Murray,6-4, 7-6 to advance to the semifinals at the 2012 Barcelona Open Sabadell. Raonic will now face either the third seed David Ferrer or the seventh-seeded Feliciano Lopez, depending on the outcome of their quarterfinal match.

"It’s very, very difficult and a big plus in confidence for me," said Raonic of his upset win over Murray. "Clay’s not his best surface, but he consistently does well on it. Last year, he reached the semifinals at the French Open, Monte-Carlo and Rome, so he can play really well on it. For me, it was a big win, regardless of the surface."

Raonic dropped only four points on his serve in the first set and was able to break Murray in the seventh game to take the opener. The only faltered point in the match was when he served for victory in the second set; however, was able to then take it in the second set tie-breaker.

The 21-year-old Canadian Raonic was named the 2011 Newcomer of the Year. He reached three ATP World Tour finals this season alone.
