Andy Roddick has reached the quarterfinals at the Queen’s Club Tournament after overcoming the 15th seed Kevin Anderson, 6-4, 6-4. Anderson took the first game, however, Roddick held and then broke quickly to gain a 3-2 lead. He would then serve the set out and take the first one 6-4.
The second set had the same exact routine with a hold by Roddick which was then followed by a break. Roddick said, " I thought it was solid" and "I had a game plan, I stuck to it. There was never going to be a lot of breaks out there today with the way we were both serving, but that’s grass-court tennis."
Roddick will now go on to face Fernando Verdasco, who defeated David Nalbandian, 7-5, 6-1, to make it to the quarterfinals.
Rafael Nadal, along with Andy Murray, will go on to play their matches later Thursday in hopes of also advancing to the quarterfinals.
