Roddick Beats Blake to Remain Atop PowerShares Series Standings

Andy Roddick continued his dominance on the PowerShares Series circuit on Thursday night, beating James Blake 6-3 in the one-set final at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va.
The title is the seventh of Roddick’s season on the circuit, extending his record for the most titles in a single season. The previous record was held by Pete Sampras with five titles in 2011.
Roddick beat Todd Martin 6-3 in the night’s first semifinal, while Blake beat John McEnroe 6-2 in their semifinal.
The 32-year-old Roddick maintains his lead in the season’s standings with 1,600 points. Blake sits in second with 900 points and Mark Philippoussis and McEnroe are in a tie for third place with 800 points each.
The next event on the circuit will be held Wednesday, April 29 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The semifinals will pit McEnroe against Blake and Roddick against Michael Chang.
