Roddick Defeats Blake at Indian Wells to Face Fellow American Isner

American Andy Roddick defeated his fellow countryman, James Blake, in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California, 6-3, 7-5. Roddick advances on to the third round at Indian Wells where he will face another fellow America, John Isner, who advanced with a 6-3, 7-6 (2) win over Brazilian Ricardo Mello.

Also advancing on the men’s side were Tomas Berdych, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer who overcame Igor Andreev, 7-5, 7-6 (4).

On the women’s side, Kim Clijsters of Belgium defeated Italian Sara Errani and Serbian Jelena Jankovic of Serbia moved on with a win over Julia Goerges 6-2, 6-4, as did others moving on to the third round, Francesca Schiavone, Ana Ivanovic and Marion Bartoli.
