American Serena Williams continued her domination at the 2012 U.S. Open Monday afternoon with a 6-0, 6-0 win over the 82nd-ranked Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic. Serena has lost only four matches to date in 2012. Serena finished with 31 winners to Hlavackova’s nine. Serena will next meet Serbian Ana Ivanovic in the quarterfinals after Ivanovic defeated Tsvetana Pironkova 6-0, 6-4.

"She was fighting really hard," Serena said of her Monday afternoon opponent. "You give people any type of chance, especially in tennis, the match is never over until you shake hands. There is always a comeback available. So I didn’t want to give her that opportunity—or anyone that opportunity—to try to come back, especially her in particular. She was getting so pumped up and she never gave up. I thought that was really incredibly positive."

Serena is scheduled to return to action Monday evening under the lights with sister Venus Williams as they face the fourth-seeded women’s doubles team of Maria Kirilenko & Nadia Petrova of Russia at 7:00 p.m.
