Sharapova Handed Two-Year Ban

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) handed five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova a two-year ban on Wednesday resulting from her positive drug test during the Australian Open.
An Independent Tribunal hired by the ITF under the Tennis Anti-Doping Program stated that Sharapova did not indicate her use of Mildronate between 2014-2016 in her forms before the Australian Open. The ITF originally asked for a four-year ban, but the Tribunal came to the conclusion of a two-year ban.
