SJJCC Holds Fundraiser at Glen Head Racquet Club

The Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center (SJJCC) held a special fundraiser at Glen Head Racquet Club, Tacos, Tennis and Tequila, earlier this year to help raise money for its organization. The event was held in conjunction with Long Island Tennis Magazine.
“Tennis is an immensely popular sport among our members and we try to anticipate the needs of the community and accommodate them as best as possible,” said Francine Stephens, Associate Director of Development for the Sid Jacobson JCC. “With Tacos, Tennis and Tequila, we offered a fun event people can rally around while doing some good, with all the proceeds going towards the Community Needs Bank, ensuring food security across Nassau County. We are grateful for the generous support of our members and sponsor organizations, and the partnership with Glen Head Racquet Club and hope to continue to work with them in the future.”
SJJCC exists to enable life to flourish. As the only full-service JCC on Long Island’s North Shore, SJJCC provides a full range of cutting-edge recreational, health, fitness, educational, cultural arts, and social services programs. The organization is firmly committed to enriching the lives of all individuals and families in our community. While the comprehensive programs are based on Jewish values, traditions, heritage, and culture, it welcomes and extends its arms to all.
The event featured fun tennis play on the courts including drills, match play and other games, while drinks and food were served off the court to create a festive atmosphere that was entertaining for all.

“Events like this have become part of our annual calendar and we are thrilled that we were able to do this this year,” Stephens added. “While we don’t have an ongoing tennis program in-house at Sid Jacobson JCC, we have created a thriving pickleball offering in the last few years, responding to the desires of our members.”
The organization is excited to continue holding more events such as these in order to maintain its mission.
“As with every year and every program, Sid Jacobson JCC and its staff serve our community with quality programs and services that promote social, cultural, and physical well-being,” said Stephens. “We pride ourselves on being responsive to our members’ needs, whatever they may be. With such responsiveness, we are confident that organic growth will continue at or above its current pace in the months and years to come.”

The SJJCC also expressed its heartfelt sympathies to the families of Drew Hassenbein and Ethan Falkowitz, two young tennis players who were tragically killed in May.
