Stony Brook Men, Women Compete In Weekend Tournaments

The Stony Brook men’s and women’s tennis teams hit the road for tournaments this past weekend, as the men traveled upstate to West Point for the Army Shootout, while the women headed to New Haven for the Bulldog Invitational.

â–ºSophomore Devanshi Bhimjiyani and freshman Amanda Foo won 2 out of their three matches beating Cornell's Stevens and Dau 6-4 and Harvard's Thiel and Lu 6-1.
â–ºSophomore Anne- Kathrin Hierl (Haan, Germany) beat Jasper of Harvard 2-6, 6-4, 10-6.
â–ºFreshman Glauka Vincente (Benicassim, Spain) beat Thiel of Harvard 7-6, 4-6, 10-6.
â–ºSenior Tyler Hoffman (Sayville, N.Y.) was perfect on the weekend winning both singles matches and all three doubles matches that he competed in.
â–ºHoffman took down Plutt of Bryant 7-5, 6-1 then Nguyen of Army 7-6, 6-2.
â–ºIn doubles Hoffman and partner Hadlich beat Jakubowski and Lorenz of Bryant 8-7, Riechmann and Nguyen of Army 7-6, and Seltman and Hosokawa of Sacred Heart 8-2.
â–ºSophomore Samuel Taieb (Triel-Sur-Seine, France) and Junior Richie Agarwal (Kolkata, India) beat Sacred Heart's Hosokawa and Surprenant 8-2.
â–ºSenior Hari Rohan and Junior Justin Park beat Sause and Santino of Sacred Heart 8-5.
â–ºRodrigo Hadlich (Balneario Camboriu, Brazil) beat Seltman of Sacred Heart 6-4, 6-7, 10-2.
â–ºTaieb and Morhan beat Plutt and J. Ortiz of Bryant 8-5.
â–ºAgarwal beat Lualsa of Bryant 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.
â–ºTaieb took down Hosokowa of Sacred Heart 6-3, 6-4.
â–ºPark beat Sause of Sacred Heart 6-2, 6-3.
â–ºFreshman Ruben Morhain (Deland, Fla.) took down Surprenant of Sacred Heart 6-1, 7-5.
â–ºRohan beat Voigt of Army 6-1, 6-2.
