David Ferrer, the highest seeded Spaniard remaining at Wimbledon, beat fellow countryman Roberto Bautista Agut to make it to the third round for the sixth consecutive year. The scrappy Ferrer had a score of 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-5 to schedule a match in the next round with the 26th-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov. Ferrer was the French Open finalist, losing to Rafael Nadal, and he also did not have much success in the warm-up grass court tournament. He lost in the first round at the Queen’s Club tournament, and was taken to four sets in his first round match at Wimbledon.

"’I feel better than in the first day and last week," said Ferrer. "I’m improving my game on these courts.”

Last year at Wimbledon, Ferrer made it to the quarterfinals.

At age 35, Tommy Haas is having some of the best results of his career advancing after his win over Taiwan’s Jimmy Wang 6-3, 6-2, 7-5 to make it to the third round. To claim his spot in the next round match against Feliciano Lopez, it took Haas only an hour and a half. In 2009, Haas made it to the semifinals at Wimbledon, but in the last few years, injuries have gotten in the way of his success. This past month, Haas became the oldest man to make it to the French Open quarterfinals since 1971.

The Bryan Brothers started off their trek for a fourth consecutive Grand Slam title by defeating Brazilians Marcelo Demoliner & Andre Sa 6-4, 6-4, 6-1 in Men’s Doubles action. The Bryans are trying to become the first men’s doubles team to win four major tournaments consecutively since the Australian team of Ken McGregor & Frank Sedgman won seven consecutive titles in 1951-52. Mike & Bob Bryan have a record of 14 Grand Slam titles, two of those coming at Wimbledon. They also won the warm-up tournament at the Queen’s Club to win their 90th career title.
