Tipsarevic Shocked in Moscow by 17-Year-Old Wild Card

Former champion Janko Tipsarevic was upset on Wednesday in the Kremlin Cup by Bank of Moscow by 17-year-old Karen Khachanov, 6-4, 6-4 in 77 minutes to become the youngest quarterfinalist of the season. In July, he won the European Junior Championships in Switzerland.

Qualifier Andrey Golubev also booked a spot in the quarterfinals after he defeated the sixth-seeded Horacio Zeballos 6-3, 6-4. Second seed and defending champion Andreas Seppi reached his sixth ATP World Tour quarterfinal after his 6-3, 6-2 win over fellow Italian Paolo Lorenzi. He will face Edouard Roger-Vasselin, who defeated Sergiy Stakhovsky 7-5, 7-5.

The number five seed, Denis Istomin, recorded his second win over Andrey Kuznetsov this year with a 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 victory, and will advance to face Ivo Karlovic, a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Denis Kudla.
