U.S. to Face Switzerland in 2012 Round One Action at Davis Cup

The United States has drawn Switzerland in the first round of the 2012 Davis Cup. Switzerland will play host for the best-of-five series from Feb. 10-12, 2012. Switzerland and the United States last played in the opening round of the Davis Cup in 2009, when the Americans beat Switzerland 4-1 in Birmingham, Ala. Roger Federer did not play in that series and has not played in the first round since 2004.
Spain and Argentina, finalists for the 2011 Davis Cup, were named the top seeds at the draw. In 2012, Spain will host Kazakhstan and Argentina will travel to Germany.
In other 2012 Davis Cup first-round World Group matches, Austria faces Russia, Canada will take on France, the Czech Republic will play Italy, Serbia does battle with Sweden, and Japan will take on Croatia.
