Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka came back from a set down to beat Croatian teenager Borna Coric 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-3 to reach the Western & Southern Open third-round in Cincinnati on Wednesday.

Coric jumped on both of his break point chances in the opener to take the first set 6-3. The second set went on serve and in the tiebreaker, Coric’s form dipped. He double-faulted on one point which set up Wawrinka with three set points, and the fifth-ranked Swiss jumped on his first one to force the match into a deciding third set.

Wawrinka broke Coric in the sixth game of the deciding set to seize control and served out the remainder of the set to advance.

He will play Ivo Karlovic for a spot in the quarterfinals.

12th seeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet ousted another teenager, Thanasi Kokkinakis, in his match Wednesday, beating the Australian qualifier 7-6(5), 6-2 to set up a matchup with Marin Cilic.

The other teenager in the draw, American Jared Donaldson, saw his Cincinnati run come to an end at the hands of Jerzy Janowicz. The Pole beat Donaldson 6-4, 7-6(4) and will play Ukraine’s Alexandr Dolgopolov.
