Caroline Wozniacki completed the New York City Marathon on Sunday, running the 26.2 mile race in three hours, 26 minutes and 33 seconds. The Dane had entered the race with a goal of finishing in under four hours, and changed that goal to three and a half hours as the race went on, finishing ahead of her goal in her first ever marathon.

“The crowd was amazing. It was incredible. It was such an incredible experience,” said Wozniacki, who was greeted by friend and fellow tennis player Serena Williams at the finish line. “I’m so happy to have done this. I’m so proud. Now I have this medal. I can say that I’ve done the New York City Marathon.”

The former world number one wasn’t just racing for fun, she set out to raise money for Team for Kids, a group that raises money for youth and community service programs. Her marathon raised over $81,000 for the charity.

“We make running groups for them so they can go out and get an active lifestyle, enjoy it and have fun. We also teach them about nutrition and healthy living,” said Wozniacki of the charity. “All of that has shown a big increase in happiness for kids—they get a healthier body, healthier mine, better grades in school. It all goes together. I think it’s such a great charity.”

Her time of less than three and a half hours is not bad for a runner whose longest training run was 13 miles heading into the race. She ran twice that on Sunday, and left open the possibility of running in another marathon, but not for some time.

“Right now I don’t think I’m going to do one for a few years, but probably at some point I’m going to do another one,” said Wozniacki. “Right now I’m just tired. I’m exhausted. If you ask me right now, then I’d say no, but I’m sure that I’m going to look back on this experience and say that this was awesome and want to do it again.”
