Wozniacki Into Round of 16; Li Na Stunned By Zahlavova-Strycova

Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki moved into the fourth round at Wimbledon on Friday, coasting past unseeded Ana Konjuh 6-3, 6-0 in a little over an hour.
Konjuh, who is only 16 years old, came through as a qualifier and surprised a lot of people by winning her first two matches of the tournament. However, the experience and poise of 16th seeded Wozniacki proved to be too much.
The match looked even early on as the powerful serve of Konjuh kept her on par with Wozniacki, but the Dane finally broke to put her up 5-3, and she would eventually serve out an ace to take the set.
After Konjuh let an opportunity to pull to 1-1 in the second set get away, Wozniacki turned up a second gear and ran away from the 16-year old, closing out the match with a 6-0 second set win.
While the teenager from Croatia hit 10 more winners than the favored Wozniacki, she was unable to recover from the break in the first set and lost the final nine games of the match.
The Dane will now move into the fourth round and play for a spot in the quarterfinals, a place she has never reached at Wimbledon. Standing in her way will be the Czech Republic’s Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova, who stunned second-seeded Li Na in straight sets Friday.
Both sets in the match went to tiebreakers, with the Czech outlasting her Chinese opponent in both for the 7-6(7-5), 7-6(7-5) victory. Li, the world number two, has struggled in the major championships recently. Following her title at the Australian Open in January, she lost in the first-round at Roland Garros two weeks ago and now bows out of Wimbledon in the third-round.
Li committed 37 unforced errors to just 27 winners, a ratio that left her playing from behind all match. Zahlavova-Strycova converted two of her four break point opportunities which allowed her to take control of the tiebreakers, and push herself into the fourth-round.
22nd seeded Russian Ekaterina Makarova cruised past Carolina Garcia of France 7-5, 6-3 to book her spot in the final 16. Makarova hit 28 winners compared to 18 unforced errors, and took advantage of six double-faults from Garcia to advance in straight sets. She will next face the winner of fourth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska and Michelle Larcher de Brito.
